News: GMDA Tenders Rs 55.46-Crore Six-Lane Underpass at Z Chowk-31-07-2026
A six-lane underpass will be built at the Z Chowk intersection, from Iffco Chowk towards Ardee City Road, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has said.
Officials said the underpass will be around 1.35 kilometers long and cost Rs 55.46 crore. It will come up at the intersection of sectors 27, 29, 43 and 44. The tender has been floated, and work is to be finished within 18 months of its award.
The underpass will have three lanes in each direction, and a parallel six-lane at-grade carriageway will also be developed. Officials said the project will decongest the area around Millennium City Centre Metro station and the proposed Gurugram Metro interchange station.
GMDA CEO PC Meena said the underpass will raise the carrying capacity of the road from Iffco Chowk towards SPR, cut travel time and separate local traffic at the Millennium City Centre junction.
He said two rainwater harvesting structures will be built along the corridor for groundwater recharge and solar panels will meet the underpass’s electricity needs. The executing agency will also carry out dust mitigation, including regular water sprinkling and covered transport of construction material.
