News: GMRL Asks HSVP to Settle Plot Ownership for Metro Stations-27-07-2026
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has asked the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to clarify who owns two land parcels, in Palam Vihar extension and Sector 21, so that it can take timely possession for the metro project.
In a letter dated July 2, GMRL said it needs around 1,514 sqm for entry and exit structures: about 541 sqm at the proposed Palam Vihar Extension station and about 973 sqm at the Sector 21 station. It said the first parcel belongs to a private builder and the second to a public sector unit.
GMRL’s chief project manager-II asked HSVP to examine the ownership status and advise whether the parcels can be transferred to GMRL for the Priority-2 Corridor, or must be treated as private land and bought under the approved policy for direct purchase through mutual negotiation. The letter said the clarification is essential to keep to the implementation schedule.
A senior HSVP official said the metro is a priority project and the matter is under consideration.
According to metro authorities, phase-2 of the Old Gurugram Metro will have 14 stations, along with a spur from Sector 5 to the railway station. GMRL had earlier sought approximately 14,000 sqm for 10 of these stations.
