News: Dhesi Asks GMDA, HSVP to Plug New Gurugram Drainage Gaps-25-07-2026
DS Dhesi, Haryana principal advisor, urban development department, on Saturday told the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to jointly inspect and complete all missing links in the drainage network on priority, officials said. At the review meeting, he stressed close coordination for an integrated stormwater system across New Gurugram.
GMDA officials said work on the master stormwater network in sectors 68-75 and 76-80 is in progress, and Dhesi asked that it be expedited within deadlines. HSVP administrator Vaishali Singh said the sectors 81-87 phase is complete and handed over to GMDA, while sectors 88-95 are in the final stage.
As an interim measure, stormwater from Sihi and Badha villages goes into the Leg-4 master carrier drain and runoff from sectors 83-95 is diverted to green areas. Completed drains are being desilted.
GMDA executive engineer Vikram Singh said the four master carrier drains, Leg-1 to Leg-4, functioned at full capacity despite more than 100 mm of rain on July 17.
Officials added that the damaged treated water channel of the Dhanwapur sewage treatment plant (STP) has been repaired and supply for irrigation in Jhajjar district has resumed.
