News: Gurugram Metro Depot to Get 400 Sq M of HVPNL Land-22-07-2026
Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) has agreed to hand over around 400 square metres of land in Sector 33 to Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) for the Gurugram metro depot, officials said on Tuesday.
The plot is part of a 220kV power substation. A senior HVPNL official, requesting anonymity, said the equipment on it must be shifted at GMRL’s cost to adjacent land, without affecting substation operations.
GMRL floated a tender of approximately Rs 409 crore for the depot on June 16. Its opening, due on July 22, has been deferred to August 5. The depot is planned over approximately 50 acres, for which the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has demolished 61 shops in the marble market and relocated the market.
HVPNL officials also said shifting of the Sector 10 substation, a major hurdle for the metro corridor between Umang Bhardwaj Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk, is likely by the end of the year. The official said 16 feeders can move to a substation built in Sector 37 and 19 more to another under construction. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has assured completion in December, he added.
