News: Haryana Tenders 21 More Air-Quality Monitors Across NCR-17-07-2026
Haryana has called bids for 21 Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) in its NCR districts, pollution control board (HSPCB) officials said on Thursday, taking the state total from 32 to 53. The split is six for Gurugram, four for Faridabad, three for Sonepat, two for Panipat and one each for Rohtak, Karnal, Palwal, Mahendergarh and Nuh. Gurugram has four now, Faridabad three, and Rohtak, Panipat, Sonepat, Karnal and Palwal one apiece.
The directorate of supplies and disposals issued it this week; bids close July 22, then technical evaluation. Joint CAQM, CPCB and HSPCB teams shortlisted sites in June. In Gurugram they are Behrampur (Sector 71), Jahajgarh (Sector 106), Tau Devi Lal Park (Sector 22), Leisure Valley Park (Sector 29) and near the Chandu village water treatment plant on the Gurugram-Jhajjar border road; in Faridabad-Ballabhgarh, Surajkund, NTPC, Jhajru Road, the biocluster zone and Mata Amritanandamayi Hospital.
The winning bidder gets HSPCB land and must install within two months. Each carries multi-calibration systems for gaseous monitors, meteorological instruments, ultrasonic sensors and data display units, tracking 12 air parameters (CO, SO2, NO-NO2-NOx, NH3, O3, beta gauge PM2.5 and PM10, among others) and six weather ones: wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, solar radiation and rainfall.
A senior HSPCB official, requesting anonymity, said each machine costs Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2 crore, placed on a grid of one station per 25 sq km (5 km × 5 km grid). Each must run 90% of the year, monitoring round the clock; the winner also gets a five-year maintenance contract, with fines of Rs 5,000 a day for downtime and Rs 3,000 a day for analyser or system failure. A dedicated server at HSPCB’s Panchkula headquarters will link them and issue daily, monthly and annual reports.
