News: GMDA Tells MCG to Stop Dump Yard on Sector 107 STP Land-16-07-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has asked the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to halt construction of a dump yard on land in Sector 107 that is earmarked for a sewage treatment plant (STP), officials said on Wednesday.
The authority said it has bought the land from MCG and floated a tender for the STP, part of the Yamuna Action Plan. An MCG contractor has nevertheless continued work on around one acre, officials said.
A GMDA official, who asked not to be named, said a site visit showed the contractor had excavated the area. The matter has been placed before GMDA chief executive officer PC Meena. The official said a dump yard there would hamper the STP as much of this land is uneven.
A senior GMDA official said MCG has been asked to vacate the site and has, as of now, agreed to shift the activity.
GMDA plans a 500 MLD STP in two phases at Sector 107 to serve Sectors 81 to 115. Its estimates put anticipated water discharge in these sectors at 384 MLD and sewage generation at 307 MLD.
Sunder Sheoran, executive engineer, MCG, did not respond to HT’s requests for comment despite multiple attempts.
