News: GMDA Clears Right of Way for Sector 99 220 kV Line-16-07-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has given in-principle approval and right of way (RoW) to Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) to lay the 220 kV transmission line needed to operationalise the upcoming 220 kV substation in Sector 99, officials said on Wednesday.
The substation will be built at a cost of Rs 62 crore, HVPNL officials said. The cost of the line will be fixed after the final survey.
The decision came at a meeting chaired by GMDA chief executive officer PC Meena with HVPNL managing director Dr Aditya Dahiya and senior officers of both agencies. A joint committee has been formed to inspect the proposed alignment, finalise the RoW along the Dwarka Expressway within 10 days and ensure that no existing utility infrastructure is affected.
GMDA officials said around 19 unipoles are proposed for the line. Once working, the substation is expected to improve the quality and reliability of supply in Sectors 99, 101, 102, 103 and 104 of New Gurugram.
Meena said alignment issues had been resolved in principle and the authority would fully support HVPNL on the RoW.
HVPNL had sought to use GMDA’s RoW along the expressway for a 220 kV Line-In Line-Out (LILO) line connecting the new substation with the Daulatabad feeder and further with Manesar.
KK Sarkar, superintending engineer, HVPNL, said the ground and trenching survey is complete. A final survey will fix the exact number of poles, after which tenders will be floated. The work is expected to take around a year.
