News: New Kukdola Toll Plaza to Replace Kherki Daula-15-07-2026
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will start building a toll plaza and administrative building at Kukdola village near Pachgaon next month so that the Kherki Daula toll plaza can be shifted, officials said on Tuesday. The tender is likely within a week, and toll collection at Kherki Daula will stop once the new plaza is operational.
A senior NHAI official said the plaza will have 14 lanes and take around six months to build. NHAI had earlier estimated the cost, including the administrative building, at Rs 18 crore. Highway officials said it will be lower at the new site, as only gantries for FASTag readers are required, with no toll cabins or allied infrastructure.
Yogesh Tilak, project director, Dwarka project implementation unit (PIU), said the site is final, all stakeholders have consented, and IHMCL will float the tender for the building and tolling gantry. The plaza will use the multi-lane free flow (MLFF) system, in which digital tags are read automatically and collection is entirely digital.
Another senior NHAI official, requesting anonymity, said HSIIDC, GMDA and nearby security agencies have approved the site.
Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari first announced the relocation at a public rally in Badshahpur in 2016, following residents’ demands. Land acquisition issues, litigation, villagers’ protests, forest clearance requirements and security concerns delayed it.
The Union transport ministry approved a shift to Pachgaon in May 2025. After fresh protests, the location was changed to Kukdola near Sehrawan, around 13 kilometres from the existing plaza. An NHAI official said the present site remains within Kukdola’s revenue estate, which was approved in 2025, but has moved about one kilometre towards Sehrawan from the earlier proposed spot.
