News: DTCP Proposes 1,150 Acres for 24-Metre Roads, Sectors 58-115-13-07-2026
The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has proposed acquiring around 1,150 acre of land to build missing 24 metre internal roads in Sectors 58 to 115, to improve access to private condominiums and residential colonies.
Officials said Anurag Agarwal, additional chief secretary (ACS), DTCP, asked for the proposal on priority at a May 21 review of state budget announcements. He also directed that commercial land along the roads be included to make it financially viable. Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini had announced the acquisition in this year’s budget speech.
Many housing societies in these sectors depend on narrow village roads. A senior DTCP official said the land needed has been identified and mapped. Because acquisition costs are substantial, extra land along the stretches may be acquired for commercial development and auctioned to raise funds. A senior government official said the land to be acquired is unlicensed.
According to the meeting minutes, DTCP suggested that Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) acquire the land initially and be reimbursed from external development charges. HSVP would also acquire the commercial land, with revenue from it used to recover costs.
Under the Gurgaon-Manesar Master Plan 2031, developers were to build these roads within their licensed areas, but many could not be built because of legal disputes and unavailable land. Last October, residents moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Sunil Sareen, deputy convenor, Dwarka e-way Gurugram Development Association, which filed the petition, said several condominiums lack proper access, utilities cannot be laid in some areas and many land parcels cannot get licences without roads.
