News: Bakhtawar Chowk Double-Decker Flyover May Start in August-10-07-2026
Construction of the double-decker flyover for Gurugram Metro at Bakhtawar Chowk is expected to begin by August, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) officials said. The design is in its final stage and approval from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is expected soon.
GMRL proposed the flyover in March, 2026, so vehicles could move beneath the metro track on shared pillars. In June, GMDA asked it to provide for an underpass for vehicles going from Sector 47 towards Medanta Hospital, and to redesign the pillars accordingly.
According to GMRL, the first level will be an elevated road with three lanes on each side and the second will carry the metro viaduct/station. Two service lanes on each side will run at surface level.
A senior GMRL official said phase one work is progressing steadily, with the focus on shifting utilities between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk. Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has been asked to transfer land for phase two.
Rakesh Saini, estate officer, HSVP, said most phase one land has been transferred and phase two land will follow on priority.
