News: Canal Water for Five Ward 17 Villages: Rs 1.35 Crore Plan-28-06-2026
Residents of five villages in Ward 17 are set to receive canal-based drinking water after the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) approved a Rs 1.35 crore upgrade of water supply infrastructure, officials said. Tenders will be issued soon.
Mohammadpur, Narsinghpur, Kherki Daula, Darbaripur and Palra will benefit through improvements to their existing water boosting stations.
The central element is connecting the Kherki Daula boosting station to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority’s (GMDA) 900mm canal-based bulk supply line. Residents will then get treated canal water along with groundwater, easing pressure on depleting aquifers and providing a cleaner, more reliable source.
All five stations will get new tubewells, submersible pumps and advanced automatic control panels to improve pressure and keep supply uninterrupted. Officials said the design accounts for present demand and future population growth.
New ductile iron (DI) pipelines will be laid to cut leakage and improve supply to tail-end households. Existing motors will be repaired and a 10 lakh litre underground reservoir cleaned. LED lighting and energy-efficient equipment will be installed at the stations to lower operating costs.
MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the project would modernise Ward 17’s water system and make it more dependable. Canal water would improve drinking water quality and reduce reliance on groundwater, he said, adding that the aim is adequate, uninterrupted and reliable supply for every citizen.
