News: Gurugram Door-to-Door Waste Tender Reissued at Rs 647.78 Crore-26-06-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has reissued its five-year tender for door-to-door garbage collection, transportation and segregation, with the estimated cost up by over Rs 41 crore to Rs 647.78 crore, officials said. The earlier Rs 606 crore tender stalled this month after rate negotiations involving the Haryana government’s high-powered purchase committee (HPPC) failed.
The city is split into two clusters of four zones each. Cluster-I is pegged at Rs 327.51 crore and covers 401,288 establishments. Cluster-II is pegged at Rs 320.27 crore and covers around 327,911 units. Contracts are extendable by four years based on performance.
A senior MCG official attributed the higher cost to factors such as more vehicles or labour costs, saying the tender provides for 600 vehicles instead of 400.
Tender documents seen by HT require agencies to collect, segregate and transport waste to Bandhwari, deploying at least 50% of manpower and machinery within 30 days of signing and all of it within 60 days.
HT had earlier reported a six-month stopgap tender worth Rs 22.5 crore, which expires on June 30.
MCG terminated previous concessionaire Ecogreen Energy’s contract in June 2024 over alleged poor performance. A fresh tender floated in July 2024 was repeatedly delayed and revised.
