News: Clogged Rainwater Pits Flood Girls’ School in Sector 12-25-06-2026
Water is overflowing inside Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Jacobpura, Sector 12, raising concerns among teachers and school officials about hygiene and upkeep.
An HT spot check on June 21 found overflow in the school’s second building, inconveniencing parents waiting for children writing the NEET-UG examination there.
Principal Sunil Kanwa told HT that the rainwater harvesting systems in both buildings have been clogged for the past month. He said the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) informed the school on Thursday that the problem was fixed, and he would verify on Friday. An MCG official said cleaning was in progress.
Government schools in Gurugram are closed for summer vacations from May 15 till July 1. Schools had undertaken repair and maintenance ahead of a Haryana school education department inspection scheduled after June 20.
