News: MCG Invites Bids for First 15 of 52 Road Sweepers-21-06-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has floated a tender for 15 mechanical road sweeping machines at an estimated cost of Rs 8.87 crore, the first lot of 52 machines it plans to add, officials said. The move complies with directions from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to curb dust pollution and improve air quality.
The machines will be hired through the selected agency and not bought outright, officials said. Eight are proposed for Cluster 1 at an estimated Rs 4.73 crore and seven for Cluster 2 at Rs 4.14 crore.
The civic body’s fleet currently has 20 mechanised sweepers. A senior MCG official said more would be added in later phases to strengthen dust mitigation and road cleaning.
MCG is targeting dust-free maintenance of 396 km of the city’s 611-km road network in 2026, and officials said more infrastructure and resources are critical to that goal. Additional commissioner Ravinder Yadav said stronger mechanised cleaning capacity is essential to meet road dust targets and comply better with air quality norms.
HT had earlier reported that MCG will also procure two road-washing machines as a pilot. Officials said a decision on wider deployment will follow if they prove efficient.
