News: GMRL Re-Floats Rs 409-Crore Sector 33 Metro Depot Tender-18-06-2026
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) on Wednesday re-floated its Rs 409-crore tender for a metro depot-cum-workshop in Sector 33. A senior official said the tender issued in March drew only one eligible bidder and was cancelled. Bids are due by July 1.
The tender document says the depot will have train stabling lines, maintenance infrastructure, workshops and operational control facilities. Construction must be finished within 637 days, about 21 months, of award. The depot is proposed on nearly 50 acres along the Hero Honda Chowk-Subhash Chowk stretch, next to the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam’s 220 KVA power substation, which is also likely to be shifted.
Managing director Chander Shekhar Khare told HT last week that the reissue was meant to bring in more companies. Officials said the second-phase tender is also being readied following World Bank approval.
The depot is the third component of the 30 km Old Gurugram metro project. The first phase, Millennium City Centre to Sector 9, was tendered in September last year for around Rs 1,277 crore. The second, Sector 9 to DLF Cyber City, is estimated at about Rs 3,500 crore.
