News: Noida Airport’s First Cargo Flight Set for June 17-11-06-2026
The first cargo flight from Noida International Airport in Jewar will depart on June 17 and will be a domestic one, Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) announced on Wednesday. Officials said the cargo schedule will be released soon, with regular cargo services due to begin in July. Regular commercial flights from the airport are scheduled to start on June 15.
Shailendra Bhatia, nodal officer of NIAL, the state body developing the airport, said the cargo service would be a boon for all of north India.
Air India SATS (AISATS) has built a cargo hub over about 80 acres with a first-phase capacity of 255,000 metric tonnes a year, officials said. It has a cargo terminal, warehouse, trucking infrastructure and a digital management system, and will handle national and international freight. Officials who asked not to be identified said AISATS plans to link the airport to the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Europe and is in talks with airlines.
AISATS and Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd have partnered with Chennai-based cargo airline Afcom, which operates three Boeing 737-800 freighters to destinations including Bangkok, Yangon, Hanoi, Colombo, Male and Dubai. NIA chief operating officer Kiran Jain called the tie-up an important step towards a strong air cargo ecosystem.
