News: MCG Tenders Road Washers, CNG Anti-Smog Guns for Dust-08-06-2026
To tackle rising dust pollution, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has floated tenders for two road-washing machines, 10 CNG-based anti-smog guns and four static anti-smog guns for the Bandhwari landfill, officials said.
This is the first time the civic body is buying dedicated road-washing machines. They are estimated to cost around Rs 1 crore and are meant for major roads and pollution-prone stretches. Executive engineer Sandeep Dhundwal said their effectiveness will be assessed first, and more may be added if results are satisfactory.
The four static guns, estimated at Rs 34 lakh, will be installed at the landfill to suppress dust emissions, he said. MCG currently runs 16 anti-smog guns in the city and had earlier bought five diesel-operated units. Dhundwal called CNG a greener choice.
In May, residents and commuters complained of thick dust on a nearly one-kilometre stretch of the Gurugram-Faridabad road near the landfill, which cut visibility and troubled two-wheeler riders in particular.
