News: Rs 252-Crore Bus Terminal With Mall, Hotels in Sector 29-05-06-2026
The state transport department has called for bids to build an integrated bus terminal with commercial facilities on a three-acre plot in Sector 29, officials said on Friday. The tender was issued earlier this week and bidding is open until July 15.
The tender document, accessed by HT, describes an "iconic landmark building" with a high-street shopping complex, hotels and an entertainment zone near Leisure Valley Park and IFFCO Chowk. The project is estimated at around Rs 252 crore and will be allotted on design-build-finance-operate-transit (DBFOT) mode for 33 years, with 30 months allowed for construction.
A senior official of the department of state transport (DST), who did not wish to be named, said the five-phased project will be planned so that boarding a bus takes no more than 5-10 minutes. The link with Millennium City Centre Metro station, he said, would allow easy transfers between Metro and interstate buses.
The concessionaire must provide six bus bays, a passenger concourse, an information system, parking for app-based taxis and private vehicles, electronic charging stations and a mall, among other things. Final bus capacity will depend on bidders’ proposals, the official said.
Bidders must also install a security system with 360-degree automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras and a control room.
The project comes within a year of approvals for similar terminals at Rajiv Chowk and Mahavir Chowk.
