News: Haryana Extends Negotiated Land Purchase to NCRTC-05-06-2026
The Haryana government has approved direct purchase of private land and property through negotiations for National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) projects, officials said. The decision extends the policy notified on January 8 for Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) to projects of NCRTC and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC).
Under the policy, land is procured by mutual negotiation through a district land purchase committee headed by the deputy commissioner, with ten members including a senior NCRTC official. GMRL has already issued a notification to buy 10,000 sq mtrs under it. The directions were issued by HMRTC managing director Chander Shekhar Khare.
NCRTC had sought the policy for its two Namo Bharat RRTS corridors. In a letter dated February 19, managing director Shalabh Goel said acquisition under the RFCTLARR Act, 2013 is time consuming and could delay the projects.
The Delhi-Gurugram-Bawal corridor is 93.12km long, 71.14km of it in Haryana, and the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal corridor 136.30km, including 100.15km in Haryana. Their detailed project reports are with the Union government. The two need 202.98 hectares of government land and 154 hectares of private land. Officials said a construction tender for the Bawal corridor is expected in the next few months.
