News: Substation Faults Cause Power Cuts in DLF, Sector 99-29-05-2026
Faults at substations caused power cuts in several DLF blocks and in Sector-99 and nearby areas between Wednesday night and Thursday evening, a discom official said.
An 11kV feeder from the 66kV DLF Q-Block substation developed a fault after 3.30 pm, tripping a transformer and knocking out 10 11kV feeders serving blocks of DLF Phase-I, II and III. The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVN) official said the outage lasted about 90 to 120 minutes, most of it spent locating the fault, after which feeders were restarted in phases. DLF residents said the cut coincided with water supply hours and some had to buy tankers.
Earlier, a main feeder to DLF Phase-II failed around 9.30pm on Wednesday, and supply returned by 10.50pm.
In Sector-99, Praveen Thakur of Consicent Habitat society said power went off on Wednesday between 11pm and 11.30m and returned by 5am on Thursday, and that such outages have become routine.
Manoj Kumar Nehra, DHBVN executive engineer, City Division, said a fault at the 66kV substation in Sector-10 caused an outage of nearly 45 to 50 minutes, and load was shifted to substations in Sector 4 and 9. The official said long outages hit only societies on common 11kV feeders, which have been asked repeatedly to move to a 33kV feeder.
