News: Sector 95 Society’s Defunct STP Sends Sewage to Plot-29-05-2026
Residents of Siddhartha NCR Green society in Sector 95 have alleged that the complex’s sewage treatment plant (STP) is non-functional and that untreated wastewater has been flowing through a pipe in the boundary wall into an adjoining vacant plot for over two years, forming a large contaminated pool.
Resident Ravi Trivedi said the area is filled with foul odour and mosquitoes and poses a risk of groundwater contamination.
The NCR One Apartment Owners Association (AOA) has complained several times to the builder and the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM), most recently on May 13. Its letter said independent inspections found faults in pumps, blowers and dosing systems, and that effluent samples did not meet prescribed norms. AOA president Amit Kumar Budshra said his block, closest to the pond, is the worst affected.
A junior MCM official who visited the site told HT the STP was completely non-functional. Nijesh Kumar, executive engineer at MCM, said the builder has been issued a notice to restore the plant within this month, and the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has been informed. Residents said the discharge has continued since an MCM inspection around 10 days back.
An HSPCB team inspected the STP on Thursday. Siddhartha Bhargava, regional officer at HSPCB Gurugram South, said samples were taken and action would follow once the report is received.
