News: Sohna Road Sewer Line Gets Rs 58-Crore CIPP Relining-29-05-2026
The 30-year-old master sewage pipeline beneath the Rajiv Chowk-Sheeshpal Vihar stretch of Sohna Road will be repaired under a Rs 58-crore Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) project approved by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), officials said. A tender is to be floated within the next three months.
Yogesh Tilak, project director, NHAI (Rewari PIU), said the authority will get the line designed and then invite bids. The repair will be done under the supervision of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), which will take over the pipeline afterwards. The work could take about a year from the appointment of a contractor.
On May 6, part of the road near Subash Chowk caved in after the pipeline collapsed, the sixth cave-in on the stretch in three years. Tilak said a contract for interim repair has been awarded and the job should be done in about a month.
GMDA officials said the line, laid by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), runs about 20 feet below the highway and carries sewage from sectors 45 to 51 to the Behrampur sewage treatment plant. NHAI has been asked to ensure top-quality lining and make the contractor responsible for sewer diversion.
