News: GMDA Plans Five Elevated Corridors in Gurugram-28-05-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) presented its infrastructure plans to MCG ward councillors at a consultative meeting on Tuesday, the authority said on Wednesday. Chief executive officer PC Meena chaired the session.
Meena said five elevated corridors and seven flyovers and underpasses are proposed on key routes to create signal-free stretches. Elevated roads and flyovers are planned from NH-48 to Vatika Chowk, Rajiv Chowk to Atul Kataria Chowk, Mahavir Chowk to IFFCO Chowk and Atul Kataria Chowk to Dwarka Expressway via Dundahera. Officials said most are at the planning stage and should take around two to three years after work is allotted.
Administrative approval has been given to 51 major road projects worth around Rs 386 crore, Meena said. Twelve have been allotted and 39 are in the process. Key projects include flyovers at Ambedkar Chowk, Dadi Sati Chowk and Baba Kanala Chowk, and an elevated road from Hero Honda Chowk to Umang Bhardwaj Chowk.
A GMDA spokesperson said councillors were briefed on pre-monsoon work on the Leg-4 Drain, Narsinghpur Drain, Tau Devi Lal Stadium Drain and drainage in Sectors 68–75, 76–80 and 112–115. More than 200 personnel have been deployed for desilting.
Responding to concerns over recurring waterlogging, Meena proposed 20–25 retention ponds across the city as a long-term measure.
