News: Sheetla Mata Hospital in Sector 102A to Open by December-26-05-2026
The hospital at the under-construction Shree Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College and Hospital in Sector 102A is being readied to start functioning by the end of this year, officials of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said on Monday. It will be run under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Additional chief executive officer Vishwajeet Chaudhary chaired a meeting at the GMDA office on Monday to finalise the Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for operating the hospital. A senior official said a consultant firm is preparing the documents, which will be reviewed by the GMDA CEO and then sent to the Haryana government, a process expected to take around two months.
Chaudhary told HT that the medical college would follow one year after the hospital begins working, and that the authority was committed to the December timeline.
About 85% of work on the complex is complete, officials said. The Rs 593 crore complex in Sector 102 comprises a hospital and trauma centre with 883 beds. Structural, electrical and finishing works are under way in the hospital block. Structural work on the academic block is finished, and hostels and allied facilities are in the final stages.
Construction formally began on April 1, 2022, with a deadline of July 31, 2024. That was pushed successively to October 2024, March 2025, April 2025, June 2025, March 2026 and now December 2026, with reports attributing delays to GRAP-related restrictions and administrative hurdles. In early April 2026, officials had put progress at around 81%.
