News: No Bids for Dadi Sati Chowk Flyover, GMDA Extends Deadline-25-05-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has extended the tender for a flyover at Dadi Sati Chowk after not one company bid for the Rs 39.74 crore project. Officials and contractors blamed rising construction costs and a scarcity of bitumen.
Floated on April 24, the tender drew no bids when opened on May 18 and has been extended till May 29, GMDA officials said. A senior official, however, said it had been extended till May 28. He said high input costs and bitumen scarcity were making contractors reluctant to take up civil works.
The 900-metre, six-lane flyover is planned on the road linking Elan Mall in Sector 84 with IMT Manesar. On May 17, GMDA had announced underpasses at Dadi Sati Chowk and Shaheed Rao Ranjit Singh Chowk in addition to the flyovers.
Contractors also alleged payment delays. Another GMDA official said payments are not delayed but approvals take long, and contractors prefer HSVP and PWD, where the system is easier.
Separately, a Rs 7.5 crore tender floated on April 17 for emergency call boxes at major intersections got no bids when opened on May 7. Its deadline has been extended twice and it will now open on June 19.
