News: GMDA to Act Against Concrete Plants Whose Trucks Break Roads-20-05-2026
Ready mix concrete (RMC) plants in sectors 99 to 115, particularly along the upper Dwarka expressway, face action from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) because their overloaded heavy vehicles are damaging master and internal sector roads.
Officials said CEO PC Meena issued directions to the planning wing after the engineering wing raised the matter. Six plants operate along the expressway and nearby, most of them in Sector 99. Their vehicles have also damaged the Badshahpur drain, breaking the steel reinforcement and the concrete slab covering it.
A senior GMDA official said that at one Sector 99 location, dumpers and concrete trucks use the drain’s slab to enter and exit. Superintending engineer Jagdish Sorot said roads are damaged at several places and the movement of these vehicles needs regulation.
The planning wing said it is addressing pollution, overloaded trucks and plants operating illegally in respect of change of land use permission. RS Bhath, district town planner, enforcement, said such plants have been directed to obtain CLU (Change of Land Use) and follow environmental rules. Surprise inspections of plants running overloaded vehicles will be held within the next 15 days, with departmental action for violations. Legal action has already been initiated against two plants, he said.
