News: Rs 181 Crore Elevated Road Proposed Near Hero Honda Chowk-19-05-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has sent the Haryana government a proposal for a nearly three-kilometre elevated road between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk, officials aware of the matter said. Once approved, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will build it as deposit work, with GMDA bearing the cost.
The project is estimated at around Rs 181 crore. The elevated structure will have three lanes in each direction, with a three-lane road at ground level beneath it and two-lane service roads on both sides.
The proposal follows a February meeting in which Haryana industries minister Rao Narbir Singh directed GMDA and NHAI to build an elevated road on the stretch and extend it up to the Sector-10 Bus Depot. Earlier plans had proposed multiple underpasses and flyovers. Officials said the road would link the Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway.
After GMDA approved the concept, NHAI prepared the design and estimate. Yogesh Tilak, Project Officer, NHAI, said these had been submitted to GMDA and work would begin once approval is received. GMDA executive engineer Amit Godara confirmed the proposal has gone to the state government.
Upgrading the stretch has been discussed for nearly five years. The original plan was to widen the road and build a flyover at Umang Bhardwaj Chowk. It was later revised to flyovers at Mohammadpur, Sector-37 and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk before the present plan.
