News: MCG Cuts Water to Four Gurugram Societies Without Meters-16-05-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Thursday disconnected water supply to four residential societies that allegedly failed to install approved water meters or replace faulty ones despite repeated notices, officials said on Saturday.
The societies are The Peach Jasmine Society in Sector 31-32A, Shri Ganesh Society, Ekta Society in Sector 10A and Pradeep Kumar Group Housing Society in Sector 9. Inspections found some running without meters or with defective ones, and junior engineers of the wards concerned carried out the disconnections.
Under the norms, every residential, commercial and institutional property must have a functional MCG-approved meter. Officials said the absence of working meters prevents accurate assessment of consumption, causes revenue loss and complicates distribution.
MCG spokesperson Sandeep Rohilla said the drive is meant to ensure transparency in water use and equitable distribution.
Municipal commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said action against violators would continue and urged societies to complete formalities to avoid disruption. Officials said the crackdown comes as summer puts more pressure on the city’s water infrastructure.
