News: Tender Out for 40 MLD Sewage Plant at Naurangpur-14-05-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has floated a tender for a 40 MLD (million litres per day) sewage treatment plant (STP) at Sector 78 in Naurangpur village, part of its plan to expand sewerage in the fast-urbanising sectors of New Gurugram.
Estimated at around Rs 75 crore, the plant will come up on 2.89 acres and is to be completed within 24 months of the award of work. It will handle sewage from Sectors 77 to 80 and nearby villages. Officials said multi-stage treatment will make the water fit for reuse in horticulture and irrigation.
The Master Development Plan of Gurugram-Manesar Urban Complex 2031 divides the city into four sewerage zones. Zone-I, covering Sectors 1 to 23, Sectors 34 and 37 and nearby colonies, is served by the 218 MLD Dhanwapur STPs. Zone-II, Sectors 24 to 76 and surrounding villages, uses the 170 MLD Behrampur STPs. Zone III is Sectors 77 to 80, to be connected to the Naurangpur plant. Zone-IV, Sectors 81 to 115, is to be linked to a planned 100 MLD STP in Sector 107.
A tender has also been floated for a 100 MLD STP at Behrampur, and two more 100 MLD plants, at Dhanwapur and Sector 107, are in the pipeline. Gurugram has seven operational STPs with a combined capacity of 433 MLD across Behrampur, Dhanwapur, Jahajgarh and Manesar.
GMDA chief engineer Hemant Kumar said the new plants would help curb the flow of untreated sewage into drains and ultimately the Yamuna.
