News: Fire at GMDA Office Briefly Halts Gurugram Command Centre-13-05-2026
A fire broke out on the first floor of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office in Sector 44 around 3pm on Tuesday, leading to evacuation of the building, officials said. No one was hurt.
Fire department officials said a short circuit in an air-conditioning vent caused the blaze and filled the floor with thick smoke. GMDA’s maintenance team put it out before it could spread.
The floor houses the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), which monitors city roads through CCTV cameras. GMDA officials said no equipment was damaged, though operations were suspended for a while because of the smoke.
Mam Chand, fire officer, sector 29, said the department was informed around 2.45 pm and sent two fire engines, but the GMDA team had the fire under control by the time they arrived.
A GMDA spokesperson called it a minor incident that took around an hour to control. Officials said the ICCC resumed operations at 9.30pm, and the traffic police’s evening team then restarted challan generation.
