News: GMDA Awards Two-Year Pothole Repair Contract, Sectors 1-23-04-05-2026
The Gurugram metropolitan development authority (GMDA) has engaged a contractor for two years to fix potholes and damaged stretches on master roads in sectors one to 23. Officials said manpower for basic repairs will stay available throughout the tender period.
A senior GMDA official said an estimated Rs 6.5 crore would be spent and similar contractors would soon be hired for the remaining sectors.
The decision followed residents’ complaints about broken roads. It revives a practice of the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), which kept a contractor permanently on the job when it maintained the sectors before 2018. The official said this had stopped during the transition to GMDA.
Separately, the authority said on Sunday that teams are desilting drains, repairing slabs and clearing vegetation across the city. A spokesperson said a drive to remove C&D waste, silt and debris is under way at sectors 84, 102, 14, 44/45, near IFFCO Metro Station and Subhash Chowk, to prevent drainage choke points during rain.
