News: GMDA, HVPNL Differ Over Ring Bund at Daultabad Substation-01-05-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has asked Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) to build a ring bund around the 400 kV substation in Daultabad to keep it from flooding, officials said on Thursday.
The substation supplies sectors along Dwarka expressway, parts of old Gurugram and the Basai water treatment plant, which provides 270 MLD of the 670 MLD GMDA supplies. It was badly waterlogged last monsoon and heavy pumps had to be deployed.
In a letter dated April 22, seen by HT, GMDA chief town planner Sanjeev Mann sought a permanent perimeter bund designed for the 100-year high flood level of the Najafgarh catchment. He also mentioned waterproofing of cable trenches and basements, and permanent high-capacity dewatering pumps with independent power backup at the lowest points.
HVPNL executive engineer Hans Raj said preventing waterlogging there was GMDA’s responsibility and that the request had come at very short notice, with the monsoon two months away.
