News: GMDA Plans Bigger Pipelines for Golf Course Road Sectors-30-04-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is preparing to augment water supply to sectors 42, 54, 55 and 56 along Golf Course Road, where shortages recur every summer despite adequate overall availability, officials said on Wednesday.
These sectors lie at the tail-end of the network and are fed through the Sector 51 boosting station. The station has a capacity of 180 MLD (million litres per day), but supply is limited to 140-145 MLD, officials acknowledged. An inquiry after repeated complaints found that pipelines in some areas lack carrying capacity and have multiple bottlenecks.
Abhinav Verma, executive engineer, GMDA, said a detailed cost estimate should be finalised within 15 days, and tenders will be issued once chief executive officer PC Meena approves. Timelines and costs are not yet fixed. Meanwhile, an agency will be engaged to supply tankers during peak summer.
Separately, a pipeline under the Dwarka Expressway is nearing completion, and efforts are on to operationalise supply from Chandu Budhera to the Sector 72 boosting station. An official said this should give Sector 58 to Sector 80 adequate water.
