The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and other civic agencies have been told to post Quick Response Teams (QRTs) at vulnerable spots and stay on high alert through the monsoon, officials said on Monday.
DS Dhesi, principal advisor, urban development, Haryana government, issued the directions at the 9th coordination committee meeting of civic agencies, stressing round-the-clock readiness during heavy rain.
He asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and GMDA to connect surface drains to the master storm water network, particularly along Sohna Road. He also called for a pilot of Micro Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), with MCM, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and GMDA building one each at sites to be identified by HSVP, and for tenders for flyovers and roads to be expedited.
GMDA CEO PC Meena said a storm water drain near Tau Devi Lal Stadium, taking rainwater from the Sector 32-38 master road to the Badshapur drain, is progressing and should ease waterlogging on Medanta Road. Similar work is underway at Narsinghpur.
