News: DC Gives NHAI Two Weeks to Fix NH-48 Service Lanes-30-04-2026
The district administration has served notice on the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to immediately repair service lanes along the under-construction Bilaspur flyover on the Delhi-Gurugram (NH-48) expressway.
Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh invoked Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, a conditional order for removal of nuisance, and gave two weeks to fix potholes, repair damaged stretches and control dust. At the district road safety committee (DRSC) meeting at Mini Secretariat, he said the stretches in Bilaspur and Manesar remain in a debilitating condition and NHAI must act or face legal action. A senior NHAI official said regular sprinkling, dust removal and pothole repair are being carried out.
NHAI and traffic police were told to inspect Manesar service lanes and remove encroachments. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) was asked to cut street light repair time from three days. MCG officials said about 1% of 125,000 street lights are non-functional at any time, and 10-20 complaints come in daily through the WhatsApp chatbot. Residents can also dial 18008900.
MCG and PWD are to improve lighting on Basai, Sector 31 and MDI flyovers, and Sector 29 internal road works must finish within two weeks. The committee noted vendors occupying two of three lanes at Mahavir Chowk. Ravinder Yadav, additional commissioner, MCG, said these will be removed on priority.
Signages and speed-calming measures are planned near Manesar bus stand and the Sector 42/43 Rapid Metro underpass, with a safety roadmap for Jharsa, Atlas, Pachgaon and Bristol Chowk(s) by June. The health department was told to empanel more hospitals under Ayushman Bharat for trauma care. 54 facilities are currently registered for ambulance dispatch.
