News: Signature Global’s Ravi Agarwal on Affordable Homes-29-04-2026
Every person has the right to an aspirational life even without Rs 15 crore to spend on it, Ravi Agarwal, co-founder and managing director of Signature Global, said on a recent episode of the HT Real Estate podcast hosted by Vandana Ramnani, Editor - Real Estate.
The company began in 2014, when Gurugram was becoming known for unaffordable prices. Its first project, Solera on the Dwarka Expressway, came under the Haryana Affordable Housing Policy and offered 1-BHK apartments starting at Rs 12.5-15 lakh. Agarwal said the founding idea was to do something for people unable to buy a first home.
Signature Global’s affordable housing has so far reached over 18,000 families, or nearly 90,000 people at an average of five per household. Agarwal said these owners, who once could find nothing under a crore, have seen their investments double or triple in value.
Citing NITI Aayog data, he said 13 per cent of Indians lived in cities at Independence, 34 per cent do now and 68 per cent are projected to by 2047. With a possible population of 210 crore, nearly 140 crore would be urban. As jobs stay clustered in major hubs, he said, the answer lies in self-dependent, integrated ecosystems built on "Live, Work, Play and Rejuvenate".
He also spoke of the human cost. With workplaces concentrated in Gurugram and housing there out of reach, fathers spent four hours a day in traffic, leaving and returning while their children slept. Hubs where offices, schools and hospitals sit together give families that time back, he said.
As the company moves into premium townships, Agarwal sees a "Sweet Spot" between basic housing and luxury: bringing the features of a branded residence to a ticket size nearly half the value. Miyawaki forests and Olympic-grade sports academies are part of this approach.
