News: GMDA Chief Tours Gurugram Junctions, Lists Civic Fixes-28-04-2026
GMDA CEO PC Meena inspected Subhash Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Mahavir Chowk and other locations on Monday and told officials to fix civic infrastructure gaps on priority. A day earlier, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini had reviewed works along NH-48 and the stormwater drains.
At Subhash Chowk, a GMDA spokesperson said, Meena ordered desilting, bioswales and additional water traps and road gullies linked to surface drains. Open manholes are to be covered, encroachments removed for service lane development, and auto stands and bus bays created.
At Rajiv Chowk, he reviewed non-motorised transport (NMT) infrastructure and asked NHAI officials to explore optimising the corridor, including as an alternative route for two- and three-wheelers. He also inspected the District Court stretch.
At Maharana Pratap Chowk and Atul Kataria Chowk, he directed beautification, pedestrian walkways, bioswales in green belts and drip irrigation, and asked the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) to speed up sewer-laying at Atul Kataria Chowk. Between there and Signature Tower, he flagged illegal dumping of soil and C&D waste and ordered security guards deployed.
At Kanhai Chowk, footpaths, green belts and service roads are to be upgraded and new slip roads developed. On the Sector 29 stretch from Signature Tower to Millennium City Centre, he ordered desilting, debris clearance and removal of illegal posters.
Meena said in a statement that all agencies must coordinate for time-bound, visible improvement.
