News: Gurugram Door-to-Door Garbage Plan: 831 Vehicles, Rs 609 Cr-28-04-2026
Gurugram mayor Raj Rani Malhotra on Monday said the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has begun tendering for a permanent door-to-door garbage collection system with a large fleet of collection vehicles.
Officials said the project is divided into Cluster 1 and Cluster 2, with a separate tender for each and a combined estimated cost of about Rs 609 crore, among the largest sanitation contracts taken up by the civic body.
The plan provides for 831 vehicles in daily operation: 653 light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and 178 e-rickshaws, meant to reach residential colonies, narrow lanes and high-density areas. It is expected to cover more than 446,000 properties and handle over 1,200 metric tonnes of waste.
The tender was published on April 22. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, and bids are due by May 13, 2026 and will be opened later that day.
Malhotra said work on a robust waste management system is being expedited and that the project would ensure regular lifting of garbage and tackle unregulated dumping and sanitation gaps. She appealed to residents to hand over waste at designated times and segregate it properly, saying citizen participation is essential. The corporation, she said, is committed to a scientific and transparent process.
