News: GMDA Presses NHAI for Narsinghpur Culvert on NH-48-22-04-2026
Monsoon flooding on NH-48 at Narsinghpur could be eased by a new culvert, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has proposed, officials said on Tuesday. NHAI earlier turned the idea down, citing traffic load and structural safety.
On Monday, while checking storm water drains and flood readiness, CEO PC Meena discussed it face to face with the NHAI chairman, a GMDA spokesperson said. Runoff from Narsinghpur and adjoining sectors often pools on the highway. Meena also viewed the stormwater channel under construction from the Narsinghpur service lane to the Badshahpur drain.
A senior GMDA official said officials meet NHAI at its Dwarka headquarters on Wednesday. With the culvert, water from the highway’s east side would reach the Najafgarh drain through the channel; without it, he said, flow stays slow and waterlogging persists.
Meena also reviewed Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Rajiv Chowk and CPR, asking for faster work, pre-monsoon desilting and key drains ready by May 15. He flagged illegal sewer discharge near Dhankot too and ordered it diverted.
