News: DTCP Anti-Encroachment Drive Clears 700 Houses in Gurugram-21-04-2026
Monday’s action by the department of town and country planning (DTCP) reached more than 700 houses in eight licensed colonies, with eight enforcement teams at work on the drive’s third day, officials said.
Amit Madholia, district town planner for enforcement, said the DLF Phase 1 and Phase 2 operation touched roughly 550 homes. Around 150 illegal lawns and parks were taken out, over 40 ramps demolished, and grills, barricades, gates and staircases blocking more than 100 houses removed. Teams wrapped up the remaining lanes of A Block extension in Phase 1, then began in Phase 2 at the Central Arcade Market, razing illegal taxi stands, vendors and kiosks. Unauthorised commercial structures on Dakshin Marg also came down. "In the market areas, all illegal shops, sheds, and kiosks were cleared," Madholia said.
Elsewhere, officials said encroachments were cleared from rights of way of internal roads, green areas and public spaces. South City 1 saw action in front of 96 houses plus 15 labour quarters, 27 guard rooms and 17 advertising boards. An 18-metre-wide road in Palam Vihar Block A was opened up by clearing 140 houses’ frontages. Sushant Lok 2 lost 40 encroachments, while Uppal Southend saw four guard rooms, side stairs along 12 ramps, 15 car sheds and seven temporary structures removed. Ardee City, Malibu Towne and South City had similar operations.
Madholia said the campaign will move through licensed colonies in phases and is no single-day exercise, promising strict action "without any exemptions". The state government and the Punjab and Haryana High Court have directed it, in connection with the stilt-plus-four policy.
