The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has drawn up a 2026 to 27 budget exceeding Rs 3,500 crore, covering road, flyover and water projects at stages from DPR preparation to tendering and approvals, officials said. A senior official said its next meeting, chaired by Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, will take the budget up for approval. Plans include an elevated corridor from NH-48 to Ghata along the Southern Peripheral Road, a cloverleaf at Vatika Chowk, model roads and several junction flyovers.
Money will come from GMDA’s own revenue and government support: cesses and user charges such as water and sewerage fees, change of land use charges, external development charges routed via the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), a share of stamp duty from the Gurugram deputy commissioner, grants and other receipts.
An April 9 communiqué to the additional chief secretary, town and country planning department, lays out progress. Tenders worth Rs 754 crore are out for an eight-lane elevated corridor from NH 8 to Vatika Chowk, scheduled to be opened on April 22, and a consultant should deliver its DPR within three months. The Vatika Chowk to Ghata elevated road is estimated at Rs 1,846 crore, with its DPR also due in three months. A DPR exists for special repair of the 7.5 km IFFCO Chowk to SPR road at Rs 57 crore.
Flyovers are approved at Ambedkar Chowk (Rs 52 crore), Dadi Sati Chowk (Rs 39 crore, with administrative approval of Rs 59 crore) and Bakhtawar Chowk (Rs 80 crore). Millennium City Centre’s is cleared and a consultant appointed. A four-lane road overbridge over the Delhi-Rewari railway track near Dwarka Expressway is proposed.
On water, GMDA will spend Rs 166 crore on a 100 MLD water treatment plant and two water tanks at Basai, and Rs 54 crore on another 100 MLD WTP at Chandu Budhera.
