News: Gurugram Rent Near Metro: 1RK Hunt Sparks Online Debate-20-04-2026
An Instagram video by a Gurgaon woman describing her failed search for an affordable home near a metro station has set off a discussion on the city’s rents.
The woman, Sneha, said she wants a place near Millennium City Centre metro station and would settle for a 1RK or a shared arrangement of the ’Flat and Flatmates’ kind. She said she had been searching for 15 days, going out for 3 to 4 hours after office every day and on Saturdays and Sundays as well, and had not expected it to be this hard.
Budget was the main obstacle, she said. Good houses are available, but owners are asking for 25,000-30,000, "as if money comes for free". She said Gurgaon is not a city where people like her can live independently unless they have a package in lakhs. Her caption asked viewers to tell her if they knew of anything budget-friendly.
Many users said they related to her experience. One wrote that Gurgaon rents were out of control, while another advised looking a little farther from the metro. Others suggested checking Flat and Flatmates groups regularly or sharing a flat to cut costs significantly.
Some echoed her frustration over living costs. One user said managing rent and expenses felt impossible even on a decent salary, and another said this was why many people stay in PGs despite the compromises.
