News: Finish Gurugram Flood Works by June 15, Says Rao Narbir-14-04-2026
Haryana Industries and Commerce minister Rao Narbir Singh on Monday told all departments to complete drainage and flood-prevention works in Gurugram by June 15. At a review meeting at the PWD Rest House, he said only synchronised coordination could offer a lasting solution to waterlogging, and that another assessment would be held around mid-June.
Senior officials of GMDA, MCG, HSVP, HSIIDC, NHAI and the police department attended.
GMDA officials said work is in progress at nine identified waterlogging hotspots and nearly 160-km of surface drains are being cleaned. Central verges and green belts are being lowered, and drain connectivity is being improved at IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower Chowk, Rajiv Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk. In Narsinghpur, a temporary drain is being made permanent.
MCG officials said most of the 40 locations with sewerage-related problems have been addressed and the rest should be done before the monsoon.
The minister ordered regular inspection of micro sewage treatment plants (STPs) in city parks and robust drainage arrangements in the Najafgarh drain zone, Narsinghpur and along the national highway. Officials said the long-pending sewerage issue in Rajendra Park is likely to be resolved by April end, and treated water has been arranged in 142 parks.
