News: GMDA Invites Rs 1.08-Crore Bids to Clean Leg 2 Drain-14-04-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has floated a Rs 1.08 crore tender to desilt the Leg 2 stormwater drain between Signature Tower and Bhimgarh Kheri along Sheetla Mata Road, officials said, to prevent monsoon waterlogging and stop untreated sewage reaching key water bodies.
A senior GMDA official said bids were due by April 13 and the work must be finished within three months of award. A super sucker machine will clean the drain from NH 48 towards Atul Kataria Chowk and then along Sheetla Mata Road, an area that floods regularly. The contractor must also identify and plug illegal discharge points so that sewage does not flow into the Najafgarh drain and on to the Yamuna.
The step follows the Haryana chief secretary’s directions to civic agencies to stop sewage entering stormwater drains. A government communique noted that the Leg II drain has 17 major discharge points releasing around 75 MLD, to be plugged by June 30.
Vikram Singh, executive engineer, GMDA, said a tender is also being floated to hire tractor-mounted pumps, and pump drills will be held at underpasses by the end of this month.
