News: HSPCB Trains 25 Gurugram-Manesar RWAs on STP Upkeep-12-04-2026
Haryana’s pollution control board (HSPCB) held a workshop for 25 residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) from Manesar and sectors 102 to 114 along the Dwarka Expressway on wastewater disposal and sewage treatment plant (STP) performance, officials said.
Regional officer Akansha Tanwar (Gurugram North) said it covered STP maintenance, fewer tanker trips and running "Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) systems", which clean wastewater with biofilm bacteria in aeration tanks. Illegal tankers are "strictly prohibited" and inspections continue, she said. RWAs were told to service blowers every six months and, where plants fall short, compute inflow and hydraulic load before upgrading. A senior board official, asking not to be named, said sludge management and DAP/urea dosing for manure were covered too.
Societies generating over 20,000 litres a day (20 KLD) must release no sewage, and local authorities must inspect tankers and STPs. The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) surveyed STPs in 74 societies in February; results are awaited.
The board also ran a single-use plastic drive in Badshahpur village under the Clean City Action Plan, with jute bags handed out and Sector 66 dust-gathering points swept, Tanwar said.
