News: DMRC Seeks HSVP Nod for Multilevel Parking at Iffco Chowk-10-04-2026
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday sought permission from the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to build multilevel parking at Iffco Chowk and Dronacharya metro stations, officials said. The facilities, meant to meet heavy parking demand, are planned under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
In a letter to HSVP dated March 17 and seen by HT, DMRC senior general manager PS Chauhan said that under the approved detailed project report (DPR) and the 2006 MoU with the Haryana government, HSVP had handed DMRC plots of 2513 sqm at Guru Dronacharya station and 6279 sqm (now 3916.52 sqm) at Iffco Chowk station for parking.
The letter said approval for the parking lots was conditional on DMRC vacating an 18.5 m wide strip at Iffco Chowk. That strip, 106.95 m long and measuring 1978.57 sqm, has been vacated, and DMRC had earlier asked HSVP to occupy it and hand over the balance 3916.52 sqm.
DMRC said it already runs multilevel parking at Janakpuri West, Rohini and Rajouri Garden stations, where part of the development is used commercially because of high construction costs, in compliance with development control norms.
A senior HSVP official told HT the matter is under consideration and a decision will be taken soon.
