News: GMDA to Empanel Water Tankers, Hasten Sector 72 Station-07-04-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to empanel tanker operators and has told its engineering department to get the Sector 72 water boosting station working at the earliest to meet summer demand, officials said on Monday.
GMDA supplies 670 million liters per day (MLD) from the Basai and Chandu Budhera treatment plants. Demand is estimated at around 900MLD, with ground water covering the shortfall in parts of the city.
Executive engineer Abhinav Verma said a tender to empanel operators will be floated soon, with GMDA providing potable water and paying carriage when needed.
A senior GMDA official said the Sector 72 station will serve sectors along the SPR, particularly 58 to 80, and ease the load on boosting stations in Sector 52. Pipeline work under the Dwarka Expressway is expected to finish in two months.
