News: NHAI Razes 65 Illegal Structures on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway-03-04-2026
Sixty-five of 90 illegal structures along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway have been demolished by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the district administration, officials said. The rest will be cleared and enforcement tightened.
The action is focused on the 60-km stretch through Nuh district, where over 90 unauthorised roadside setups were identified. Officials said many accidents in the past two years were linked to vehicles, especially trucks, halting near them.
Power supply to such establishments is being disconnected, and in several cases lines have been cut and wires removed. Authorities warned that encroachments that reappear will be demolished and materials seized. Illegally parked vehicles will be fined and towed, and repeat offenders may face legal action.
PK Kaushik, project director, NHAI, said illegal dhabas lead trucks to park on the main carriageway, causing several accidents, and NHAI had sought the Nuh administration’s intervention.
Traffic police and regional transport teams will hold joint drives, and people have been urged to use designated facilities.
