News: Six km of Badshahpur Drain to Be Concretised, Rs 370 Crore-03-04-2026
A six-kilometer stretch of the Badshahpur drain, Gurugram’s main stormwater outlet, from Gadoli to the Najafgarh drain is to be concretised by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), officials said on Friday.
GMDA executive engineer Vikram Singh said HSIIDC will handle three kilometers and GMDA is preparing a plan for the other three. Officials said HSIIDC’s portion is linked to its Global City project along the Dwarka Expressway, and it also plans a load-bearing road over the drain for traffic.
An official said HSIIDC has estimated its work at around Rs 170 crore and sought GMDA’s approval. A GMDA consultant has put the other 3-km segment at around Rs 200 crore. Tenders will follow once the detailed project report (DPR) is approved. The official said concretising will end overflow and the foul smell of sewage, and GMDA officials said it will make illegal cuts for pumping sewage into the drain harder.
The channel is called the Khost Drain from the Ghata irrigation dam to Vatika Chowk on Sohna road and the Badshahpur drain thereafter.
