News: Jharsa Chowk, Gurudwara Road Encroachments to Be Cleared-03-04-2026
Road-owning agencies have been asked to clear roadside encroachments by unauthorised vendors and shops at Jharsa Chowk and Gurudwara Road to ease traffic there, traffic police officials said on Thursday.
At a meeting with the Gurugram Industrial Association the same day, deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Dr Rajesh Mohan said time-bound solutions would be put in place in the coming months for peak-hour jams of 15-20 minutes in the industrial areas. Officials said the meeting followed a report of traffic problems caused by the poor condition of roads in Sector 38 and heavy vehicle movement nearby.
Mohan said enforcement in the industrial areas would be stepped up, and that a special campaign against encroachments and unauthorised parking would be launched soon with road-owning agencies and civic bodies. A traffic official, requesting anonymity, said selected stretches in business areas could be made one-way if required.
In December 2025, a trial restricted peak-hour traffic to one way on the 2.5 to 3 kilometre Udyog Vihar stretch between WOCO building and Pipal Chowk. Signal synchronisation and varied peak-hour timings were announced afterwards.
Neeraj Khatana, a Bhondsi resident, said vendors and taxis occupying lanes in Udyog Vihar cause jams at office hours. Chaman, of Rithoj, said trucks take over service lanes early in the morning because of poor enforcement.
